Hi Everybody…..
Below is a note announcing the 1st monthly session night at The Shamrock
Club of Columbus.
Unfortunately, I’m going to miss this one due to shows in Georgia, but I
hope that some or all of you can attend……
I’d like to thank Pat Mogan, Hilda and Frank Doyle for all of their
efforts in getting this started.
And to Bob Kirby for sharing his dreams with us!
Now for the Note:
Announcing the first monthly Shamrock Club session, named in honor the
the late, great Bob Kirby to be celebrated this coming Friday evening.
The club has asked Rick Smith and I to organize this and subsequent
sessions to benefit the Shamrock Club and members. The plan is to hold
session nights every 3rd Friday of the month. The sessions will begin at
7:00 and go ’till no later than 11:00.
President to be Frank Doyle and the lovely Hilda are asking that all
local Irish entertainers please consider joining in to help make these
evenings successful and enjoyable for participants and members. The
format will be less rigid than that for the sessions we used to hold at
Tara Hall. Good musicians are always the core of a great Irish session
(or seisiun) and will be prominent at the Kirby sessions. In addition we
are welcoming singers and seannchie (story tellers) to add their talents
for the enjoyment of all. Step dancers…..COME ON DOWN!
Basically the Kirby sessions at the Shamrock Club will be a venue for
displaying our Irish/Celtic culture and spirit in the Irish pub
format….as Bob Kirby would have wanted.
All hard core traditional musicians are encouraged to lend us your
talent for one evening a month. You can still get your fix of the hard
driving trad evenings at the Claddagh Pub on Sunday evenings in German
village thanks to the efforts of Rick, Tom Davis, and the other faithful
folk who have kept sessions alive in central Ohio for 20 years or more.
Let’s make this happen!
Thanks
Pat Mogan
