Fantastic time last night. Lynn Truit and the Blue Jackets were fantastics hosts. Scott and I are looking forword to returning in the future.

Hey Everybody in the Columbus Metro Area….

The Shamrock Club of Columbus is interested in starting sessions again on the Third Friday of every month…
If you live in the Columbus area and would like to get involved with a
Professional and Free Session… Let me know by posting to this
Discussion Group.
FYI – This session will be run as Bob Kirby use to run it. But it will be professional.
Let me know by posting your comments to this Blog…

I should probably explain what a “Bob Kirby” session is and was all about….

Bob Kirby had this idea to bring in The 3 S’s.
Storytelling (jokes,tales,short stories,poetry)
Singing (ballads, rebel tunes, contemporary, etc.) And….
Sessions (traditional and contemporary/fiddle, flute, penny whistle, etc.)
It was a night to bring back the History of Irish traditions and to meld it with new and exciting ideas.

What I remember most was…. It was like coming home to a family reunion…
And it was an opportunity to play with musicians that I normally wouldn’t have had the opportunity to play with at all..(heck, some of what I do with my music was borrowed from these sessions….shhhhhhh!)

I think that it’s time to bring the sessions out of the basement and back to a place that we once all called home…..
I know (better than most) that everyone is busy with their own careers,
bands, families (by the way, my family was brought up in these session
nights), or whatever……

But, I think that for one week night… once a month… we can get together…tell some stories, sing
some songs (drink some pints) and learn from each other again.

Let’s bring the folks back out that used to come to the club for session night only…Let’s share this with them as well…They so enjoyed what we were up there doing…..

I really miss you guys….

Let
me know your thoughts, by either posting them in this discussion group or by emailing me if you want to share you thoughts in private…

I really want to hear from you….

Slan,
Ric

Hi Everyone,

Thought I’d send this note to ya, because, you folks in South Bend, Indiana need to know that Roger Drawdy and The FireStarters will be at Fiddler’s Hearth this Saturday night. January 24th.
Fiddler’s Hearth is located at:

127 N Main St
South Bend, IN 46601 (map)
Show Time: 9:00pm

I’m really excited about my becoming a member of The FireStarters.
Our show was FANTASTIC last Saturday night in Mason, Ohio.
The Lady and I were so excited to see and meet new friends. They were the greatest bunch of folks. And they opened their arms and hearts to Dah Fiddlah and his Lady Fair. We really felt like we were home.
Also, Thanks to our old friends that followed us to the show. They all stopped by to give us hugs, and support. And to thank us for a wonderful time and a New Band Experience.
So, to All that came to my Premiere show, I thank you. From the bottom of my heart.

While I have your attention, I want you to know about this Blog that I have started. I will use this Blog for Rants, Show Notices, and general news about Butt kickin’ bands that I have seen during my travels.

So keep your eyes peeled here….and please feel free to comment…..

Be talkin’ to ya soon
Ric

Hey Everyone,

I hope that you don’t mind that I borrowed your email addresses from the Homeland Newsletter List but I’m really excited about 2009 and I wanted to share what I have to tell ya, with ya!

First of all, to those that thought they’d heard the last of me, you were wrong.
At my last retirement show, at Byrne’s Pub, I was asked by one of you if this was a True Retirement or a Brett Favre Retirement…..
Well, it looks like it’s the later…….For those of you that knew I’d be back….Well…..

After having a few months off, I was asked by *Roger Drawdy* if I’d be interested in jamming with his Band, *The FireStarters*, from time to time…..Well ….I said yes and will officially be joining the band this Month… If you will allow me, I will send out my First Show Date later….
I am very excited about this move. I think all of you will really enjoy the music that will be coming from this group of guys……

Secondly, Scott and I have talked about it and we’ve decided that we really want to keep *Two2Many* rollin’ into 2009 and beyond…
For those of you that don’t know….Scott and I started this little project a couple of years ago and it has steadily gotten more popular as the time goes on…….
So, look for messages, from me regarding news and showtimes for our little family band Two2Many… (Also, we will be asking guest artists to joining us at our shows)

Lastly, While being on vacation, I have gotten a chance to reacquaint myself with old friends and some new.. Donna and I spent a fair amount of time going from place to place watching other bands perform and I would really like to tell you all where you’ll be able to find them and where they’ll be performing…..So if you’ll allow me to do this….That would be wonderful…….For example, I met this group at a festival I played at. They call themselves “The Town Pants” (from Canada) Check out their website and find out when they’ll be your area. They are completely fun.

So, If you’d like to continue to hear from me….Do Nothing….You’ll receive these notices when I send them.
However, If you get tons of these now and you really don’t want me pestering you. You can reply to any of the messages with the word “REMOVE” in the Subject Line and I will take you off the list….
I will really be sorry to see you go but you “will” be removed….

Thank you for allowing me to share some time with you and I hope that you had a Great Holiday Season…..

All the Best
Ric “DahFiddlah” Smith
