It is “true” that good things come to those who wait….
I am feeling very justified today for all of those games that I sat thru with a bag over my head….
Congrats…Saints…..2010 Super Bowl Champs…

Hey Y'all…..
I was thinkin' that it's probably time to fill you in on some upcoming shows and stuff that we (Roger and The FireStarters) are doing in the months to come……
First…we are getting ourselves primed for our upcoming shows in Savannah, Georgia..
For those that are not aware of it….We have been asked to perform at the Savanna Irish Festival…and are truly looking forward to it..
We will be sharing the stage with bands from all over including Seamus Kennedy, Slide and many, many more..
The Festival will be held Feb. 12-14th and we will be performing 3 shows….Check out the link for more info….
Secondly…and this is where I'm the most excited…
Roger and The Boys will be heading into the studio to make not one, but 2 Cd's for this year..
The first will be a mix of old and new Traditional songs that will show off Roger's heritage and flair. And showcase the band as you've come to know them…
The second CD will be more of an Original project that will show off the new sounds and energy that has quickly breathed fire into the band.
I'm very, very excited….These should be the best of the best….and I will constantly be keeping you updated on the progress AS IT HAPPENS!…..
So that's it for the "sneak peek" into what's being planned for the near future………..
Keep an eye here for pics and video of this year with The FireStarters…..
I plan to keep the updates coming….so check in from time to time…..
Talk to ya soon…
Ric
As always….if you have comments, please post them below or you can send an email to soundpost@fiddlah.net.
I'll try to answer all………
See ya…

Hi Everyone…..
Well, as you know, it was 1 year ago today that I announced my retirement from Music..
As….those who know me……that retirement lasted all of 6 weeks……..
Here I will give you a little insight of what happened at the end of those 6 weeks……..
One day, I sat down at my computer and noticed that I had an unread message on my MySpace Acct..
It was a message from (at the time) acquaintance, John McBride….
He wanted to know how the retirement was going and continued to write on how much I had influenced him and his approach to performing with his band…..Roger Drawdy and The FireStarters.
To make a long story short……There were several other correspondences and we finally made arrangements to talk to each other by phone…..
(What I know now….that I didn’t know then……..was…..John was slowly dangling the hook in front of my face…just patiently waiting for me to take the bait)
End of Story…….HOOK, LINE, and Sinker………
FireStarter I had now become……..
So…….Here I will tell you a little of my 1st year as Fiddle Player for Roger, John, Eric and Mark…….
So…the arrangements were made….
My first gig, with the FireStarters, was to happen in Febuary….To join the Band, on the road, for a festival down South…..
That would have given me a good 6 weeks to get a set list, learn the music, and hit the floor runnin’…….
Now….let me state here that the remarkable Roger Drawdy had recorded over a 100+ songs and it was my intention to learn them all and have each and everyone ready for my debut show in Feb.
Well…..That was not the case…..
Through encouraging words from The Lady….she said to go out, as soon as possible, and to Do What I Do!….To use the crowd as feed back…….To learn the tunes as we play them….
Not to Copy…..But to be myself…….
So…..hence…..I joined the band, on the road, a mere 2 weeks later….Fakin’ my way through songs that were partially learned by me…..
I know – Ric, you’re a Ding Dong!
So…..what has the first year brought….
On hell of a Rockin’ good time….
In my opinion….the band has come back to life…..
The Phoenix rising from the Fire….so to speak….

I have been told, by a very dear friend, that I have not posted to this site for a very long time.
So…here’s a note….
Coming soon….probably the first of the year…I will post my recollections of my first year with The FireStarters….
So…keep your eyes here for that update…
I’ll see you then…
All the Best…
Ric

Last night, The Lady and I went out to watch my former band, Homeland, play.
At first I thought it was going to be really strange watching some other fiddle player on stage other than me.
But you know what…I was thoroughly entertained. It was, perhaps, one of the best shows that I have seen.
Mr. Tyler Moore kicked butt on the parts that I used to play. Plus added himeself into the mix with jazzy, bluesy ideas
that I never thought of putting in the music.
I was a little tentative, too, knowing that Homeland has added a Piper/whistle player to their sound…
But, Larry was and is a very accomplished player and once he gets settled in, will be a great addition to the band.
All in all, The Lady and I were pleasantly surprise by the sound and show……
Rob and Jeremy played like pros. At one point, I thought Jeremy was going to hit those drums so hard, they would be flying
into the crowd….
And…I should also say, Scotty read the crowd with always putting the correct song into the right place in the show….
I miss Homeland (yes I do) but the changes that have been made this past year have just made everyone better…..
I love em and miss them, but I really feel this was the right thing to do…..
See yall'z later
